Pipeline & Pump Station

Since the mid-1990s, North Kern has actively operated water exchange and banking programs with District landowners, neighboring districts, and other third parties. To return previously banked water through the Friant-Kern Canal (FKC), the District relied on groundwater wells, several of which were found in 2020 to be contaminated with 1,2,3 Trichloropropane. To continue fulfilling its obligations to water banking partners, the District advanced the Long-Term Project, which included connecting uncontaminated wells (non-detect for TCP) to the FKC and building a pump station at the District’s Rosedale Spreading facilities. This project was completed in 2025.
