Assessments and Water Toll Rates

Annual Assessments, referred to as Base Service Charges, are levied on lands in North Kern Water Storage District and Rosedale Ranch Improvement District at end of each year to recover fixed costs that includes administration, operation, facility maintenance, and project construction.  Click the links below for NKWSD or RRID specific information.

Water Tolls are “usage-based” charges per volume of water delivered to agricultural water users within the District. The water toll rate is based on the cost of providing water service, which costs are determined principally by factors that include hydrology and surface water availability. Typically, the water toll is higher in a dry year than in a wet year due to increased costs of providing water supplies—namely, the costs of recovering  inground stored water to offset lower available surface water supplies.
